Princess Charlotte will be starting school in September when she joins big brother Prince George at St Thomas's Battersea, and the Duchess of Cambridge has revealed she's very much looking forward to it.
Kate and Prince William were on a joint royal engagement in Cumbria's Lake District this week , and during a walkabout, the Duchess told fellow mother Helen Jones, who had taken her four-year-old daughter Eva along for the day, about Charlotte's upcoming milestone.
"She said Charlotte was looking forward to school. She was very friendly," Helen told reporters including Hello! .
Charlotte will also be at the same school as her cousin Maud – the daughter of Lord Frederick Windsor and Sophie Winkleman – who is in the same year as George. George and Charlotte were joined by Maud on flower girl and boy duty at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's royal wedding in Windsor back in October.
Princess Charlotte is in her final year of Willcocks Nursery in Kensington, which is close to the Cambridge's family home at Kensington Palace.
Royal fans are hoping that Kate and William will share an official photograph of Charlotte on her first day at school, as they did with Prince George. Kate was unable to join George on his first day as she was suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum while pregnant with Prince Louis.
The 37-year-old duchess previously shared two portraits of her daughter - which she captured herself - to mark her first day at Willcocks Nursery back in January 2018.
Meanwhile during the royal engagement, Kate admitted that she is not the best at styling Charlotte's hair while chatting to a little girl and her family - so don't expect plaited hair when she starts at St Thomas'.
"I love your plaits!" the Duchess told the little girl offering her flowers, pointing out her two French braids.
"I tried to do a plait on Charlotte this morning, and it didn't really work very well," she joked.
Charlotte displayed some perfect looking braids at Trooping the Colour for the Queen's birthday over the weekend, so either Kate is being very modest, or she received a little bit of outside help for the princess's do.
